Therefore, I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>Job 42:5-6<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Now My Eyes See You<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I have been meditating on the glory of God lately. All too often I have made God in \u201cmy own image\u201d\u2014who I THINK He should be and what I THINK He should do and even how I THINK He should do something. But this is not \u201cseeing\u201d the God that I read about in His Word.<\/p>\n<p>Job was a <em>\u201cman that was blameless and upright and one who feared God and shunned evil\u201d\u00a0<\/em>(Job 1:8). This is actually how God Himself described Job. Yet, when Job saw God, his reaction was <em>to \u201cabhor myself and repent in dust and ashes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I know all too often I walk by sight and feelings. I have gone to the LORD and said, \u201cLORD, I feel&#8230;\u201d and in His loving, merciful way, He reminds me that it doesn\u2019t matter how I feel\u2014that what matters is that I trust Him, that I walk by faith and that I am obedient to what He says in His Word.<\/p>\n<p>My Lord has shown me that walking by feelings and emotions is sin. It is putting myself before Go\u2014and I join Job in repenting, maybe not in dust and ashes, but on my face before the One who loves me and has only the best for me, no matter the circumstances.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201cDear heavenly Father, thank You for loving me when I am unlovable, for being faithful when I am faithless. Thank You for forgiving me when I get my eyes off You and on my feelings and circumstances. You are Almighty God and there is no other. I praise You, Lord.
