\u201cThe name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to Him and are safe.\u201d <\/em>Proverbs 18:10<\/p>\n

Running For Cover<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Recently on vacation we went for a walk and the weather seemed okay so we didn\u2019t take an umbrella. After a while it started to sprinkle rain, and then the downpour came! There were big banyan trees along the sidewalk in which we ran for cover and waited a few minutes thinking it would let up. But it didn\u2019t. We ran from tree to tree until making it back to our hotel arriving soaking wet.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

While under the tree, although drippy, I thought of the Lord\u2019s sure covering. Not leaky like the trees (although I was thankful for them). His protection is leakproof! Looking back on life, I see so many \u201cnear misses\u201d yet I was covered, perfectly secure, by the LORD.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him will I trust\u201d\u00a0<\/em>(Psalm 91:1).<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>This is the place the Lord has created us to reside in\u2014His Presence. There is no better place. It\u2019s not safe out there! Why would I want to leave? So why do I enter into gossip with a coworker, or react harshly to my husband, or worry about something the Lord told me He has? When I leave His protection and step into sin, I\u2019m leaving His covering. Although He is always with me, and promises to keep me dry and safe\u2014it\u2019s my own fault when I sin because His Word says \u201cNo temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it\u201d <\/em>(1 Corinthians 10:13).<\/p>\n

Hallelujah! No excuses. I confess and move on. He is our refuge and safety. Abiding in His Word is His and our joy!<\/p>\n

\u201cDear Lord, thank You for being our strong tower. You keep us, provide for us and have ordained every situation. We can run into You and stay covered! This is the place You have created for us to abide. Amen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>
