We walked the beach looking for treasures washed ashore by the strong waves. Our sharp eyes detected driftwood, sea glass, sand dollars, small rocks, shells, and agates on the sand.<\/p>\n<p>On one of our treasure hunts, I gave my children a challenge to find heart-shaped rocks. They eagerly set off on their scavenger hunt. To all our surprise, they returned with several heart rocks in different shapes and sizes. Some rocks needed the imagination to see the \u201cheart.\u201d Others were clearly heart-shaped.\u00a0I used\u00a0these discoveries as a teachable moment to tell my children that God is our Rock, and He loves us through the hard, difficult, and happy times. He is our salvation, and He loves us so much that He gave His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins so we could have eternal life.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish<\/em><em>but have eternal life\u201d\u00a0<\/em>(John 3:16).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>I told them whenever they found a heart rock, to thank God for their salvation and for His eternal love.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cO LORD, my Rock, and my Redeemer\u201d <\/em>(Psalm 19:14).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>Now, go and find your own heart rock and write a verse on it to remind you of your salvation and of His love for you, or perhaps to give to someone else who needs that good news.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201cDear heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be our Rock, and our Redeemer, and our fortress. You love us through the storms and the calm of life with Your whole heart. You want none of us to perish. Thank You for Jesus\u2019 sacrificial and redeeming love and for our salvation through Him.
