\u201c…For He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever\u2026\u201d <\/em>2 Chronicles 5:13<\/p>\n

Steadfast Love<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The day of this writing marks the day that my sister went\u00a0 home to be with Jesus in heaven\u2014December 6th.<\/p>\n

In May of 2017, my sister was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor that was\u00a0cancerous\u2014glioblastoma. This news came quickly\u2014she was fine one day, then suddenly in a\u00a0moment she began her journey in the healing process of this particular tumor, which included\u00a0the combination of radiation treatments and chemotherapy\u2014a too-quick, challenging seven months.<\/p>\n

The tumor caused an inability for her to verbally communicate at a declining rate, so our\u00a0verbal communication became one-sided; however, we still managed to laugh often and\u00a0sometimes shed a tear or two. Her inability to text or walk was declining rapidly as well,\u00a0but she managed to laugh at herself and was aware of who was around her\u2014relatives,\u00a0friends, nurses, doctors, and physical therapists.<\/p>\n

She was one to\u00a0have every hair in place and dressed very stylish\u2014I did my best to accommodate her in her\u00a0attire, which I\u2019m sure wasn\u2019t totally up to her standards, but she seemed \u2018ok\u2019 with it. I also\u00a0observed that she wasn\u2019t particularly fond of participating in the physical therapy sessions\u00a0assigned to her recovery.<\/p>\n

Many times this past year, I\u2019ve wanted to call her on the phone\u2014she had lived many miles\u00a0away\u2014to chat about what was going on in our lives, our children\u2019s lives, and our grandchildren\u2019s\u00a0lives\u2014or just to hear her voice or her laughter again. We\u2019d been known to talk on the phone for\u00a0several hours, which reveals how close our friendship was. I miss her so much and especially\u00a0at this time of year\u2014Christmas. But the joy that she\u2019s experiencing in heaven gets me\u00a0excited inside and I cannot help but rejoice! Colossians 1:27, \u201c…Christ in you, the hope of glory.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Knowing my sister, I\u2019m sure she had many chats with her Lord during this time. The days and weeks that I spent with her during this challenging time were enveloped with\u00a0God\u2019s steadfast love for us. His love is unchangeable and His presence ever so near.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m forever grateful and thankful to have had such a great sister in my life\u2014a wonderful friend\u00a0and example of the love of Jesus. What an inspiration she was to me and many\u00a0others\u2014especially during this particular season in our lives.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m excited to celebrate Christmas again this year, for it is the love of God that sent His Son\u00a0Jesus into this world as a baby. Luke 2:11 reads, \u201cFor there is born to you this day in the city of<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>David a Savior who is Christ the Lord.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThank You, God, for sending Your Son Jesus into the world. We thank You for the privilege of<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>experiencing Your goodness and Your steadfast love here on this earth now and forever! Amen.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>
