\u201cFor we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.\u201d <\/em>Hebrews 4:15<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>I Know Just How You Feel<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hanging up the phone, feeling alone and rejected, starting downstairs, I sat down with my face in my hands and wept alone. It was another cruel attempt to hurt me, and as usual, its purpose was accomplished. My ex-husband had picked up my daughter to take her to a gathering at our friend\u2019s home. He told our friend to call me just to say \u201chi.\u201d Hearing the background laughter of all of them having fun stung like a cruel joke. It wasn\u2019t her fault\u2014she did not understand what he had intended. Nevertheless, the rejection was clear not only from my ex-husband but our friend. I don\u2019t remember ever feeling so alone.<\/p>\n

As God would have it, this moment of utter rejection turned into a very sweet time with my Jesus. My Sweet Lord came and sat beside me. On those stairs, in His still, small voice, I heard, \u201cI know just how you feel. I came to earth loving people that did not return My love. In fact, some were very cruel and just wanted to hurt Me. I, too, felt rejected by those I love.\u201d Our Jesus is so very sweet and totally understands and can sympathize with our weaknesses.<\/p>\n

In a way, this bittersweet experience became a tiny glimpse of my Savior\u2019s heart when He suffered being rejected by the people He loves. Identifying with the heart of Jesus loving me, loving those who rejected Him, gave me a love for the people who thought they were hurting me. It no longer had the sting it first brought. If Jesus could love those people hurting and rejecting Him, since He is in me, and I am in Him, the sting of rejection felt more like a wink between Jesus and me. We shared a moment together and He made something painful very beautiful.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>\u201cThank You, Jesus, for Who You are. You are mine and I am Yours. You are my High Priest who has experienced our human tests and frailties, yet You were without sin. Thank You for showing us that we never have to face our circumstances alone. We are in this together and there is nothing that, together, You and I cannot handle.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>
