Sing, Sing a Song<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

HIS EXAMPLE TO US<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Jesus sang hymns of praise and surrender.<\/span><\/p>\n

MY STORY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I grew up in a very traditional Protestant church, and Sunday service was full of hymns. My favorite hymn of all times is \u201cI\u2019m Living in His Love\u201d* which is sung to the tune of \u201cDanny Boy.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He did not come to spare me all the woes of life<\/span>
\nNor lift me up on flow\u2019ry beds of ease.<\/span>
\nHe does not shield my ears<\/span>
\nfrom cries of pain and strife<\/span>
\nNor hide my eyes from scenes that may displease.<\/span><\/p>\n

But sure am I, His power had formed this world I see<\/span>
\nAnd stronger still, His saving grace for me.<\/span>
\nSo without fear I\u2019m living in God\u2019s love each day.<\/span>
\nMy God will take me through the storms, let come what may.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus sang, too. In fact, on the night in which He was betrayed and illegally tried, He sang.\u00a0 What did He sing? At the end of a Passover meal, three Psalms known as the Hallel Psalms (116-118) were always sung. One verse from the very first Psalm in the Hallel is:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe pains of death surrounded me,<\/span><\/em>
\n And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me;<\/span><\/em>
\n I found trouble and sorrow.<\/span><\/em>
\n Then I called upon the name of the Lord:<\/span><\/em>
\n\u2018O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!\u2019\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 116:3-4)<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is another:<\/span>
\n\u201cI called on the Lord in distress;<\/span><\/em>
\n The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.<\/span><\/em>
\n The Lord is on my side;<\/span><\/em>
\n I will not fear.<\/span><\/em>
\nWhat can man do to me?\u201d<\/em> (Psalm 118:5-6)<\/span><\/p>\n

Psalm 118:24 says, \u201cThis is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

MY RESPONSE<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

If my Savior can sing these words as He faced a horrific death, what excuse do I have? Should I not praise and sing in the midst of my trials, my joys, my failures? Is there something to rejoice over in the depths of despair or pain? If Jesus did, with His power I can too.<\/span><\/p>\n

MY PRAYER<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\nHow can I say thanks for the things<\/span>
\nYou have done for me?<\/span>
\nThings so undeserved yet You gave<\/span>
\nTo prove Your love for me<\/span>
\nThe voices of a million angels<\/span>
\nCould not express my gratitude<\/span>
\nAll that I am, and ever hope to be<\/span>
\nI owe it all to Thee<\/span><\/p>\n

To God be the glory, to God be the glory<\/span>
\nTo God be the glory for the things He has done<\/span>
\nWith His blood He has saved me<\/span>
\nWith His power He has raised me<\/span>
\nTo God be the glory for the things He has done<\/span>
\nJust let me live my life and<\/span>
\nLet it be pleasing Lord to Thee<\/span>
\nAnd if I gain any praise, let it go to Calvary<\/span>
\nWith His blood He has saved me<\/span>
\nWith His power He has raised me<\/span>
\nTo God be the glory for the things He has done<\/span><\/p>\n
