{"id":21468,"date":"2017-09-26T00:10:32","date_gmt":"2017-09-26T07:10:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lccredding.com\/lcc\/?p=11678"},"modified":"2017-09-26T00:10:32","modified_gmt":"2017-09-26T07:10:32","slug":"september-26-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lccredding.org\/church\/2017\/09\/26\/september-26-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"September 26, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"backgrounder: transparent url('http:\/\/lccredding.com\/lcc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sept-alternate_edited-5.jpg'); backgrounder-size: 600px 300px; left top repeat 0 100% width: 600px; margin: 10px auto; padding: 10px 80px 10px 85px; width: 90%,;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u201cHe went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, \u2018O My Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, except I drink it, Thy will be done.\u2019\u201d<\/em> (Matthew 26:42 KJV)<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Thy Will Be Done<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jesus says this while teaching the disciples to pray (<em>\u201cThy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven\u201d<\/em> in Matthew 6:10); later He prayed this same thought for Himself in the Garden of Gethsemane in today\u2019s Scripture. He says He came to do the will of \u201cMy Father\u201d and \u201cthe Father\u201d 12 more times in Scripture, including, <em>\u201cFor I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me\u201d<\/em> (John 6:38).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As He sweated drops of blood in the Garden, praying for any other way but the Cross, there was never a thought that God didn\u2019t know what He was doing, or that He wouldn\u2019t do the right thing. There was a desire that things might go differently, but when they weren\u2019t going to, there was a surrendering to God\u2019s will and plan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This shows us some things. Jesus knew God could change it if He so desired. That gives me hope. Jesus wanted it to be different badly enough to ask three times for the cup to be taken from Him. It\u2019s okay to keep asking. It didn\u2019t change things in this scenario, but there are several times in Scripture where things did change through prayer, including sparing Ninevah when the people showed true repentance, and God<em> \u201crelented for the disaster He had said He would bring upon them\u201d<\/em> (Jonah 3:10).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Let\u2019s be honest\u2026 sometimes it\u2019s really hard to say (and mean),\u201cThy will be done,\u201d when you are desperate for a situation to change, for healing to happen, for restoration, for financial chaos to stop, for\u2026 you fill in the blank.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But at the end of the day, when all is said and done\u2014though it may feel like a knife in my chest\u2014I must say and mean, \u201cThy will be done.\u201d I must put my faith in the Living God who sees the end of things from the beginning. I must trust He has my loved ones, and my own, best interests at heart. He is allowing and ordaining things to ultimately draw us all closer to Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cLord, thank You for living out the example of submitting to the Father\u2019s will, as You willingly went to the Cross so we could be reconciled to the Father. Help us to surrender our will for His in both the easy and the hard things, trusting He knows best.
