Son Reflections<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Whenever we pull out onto Highway 44, we get to see Mt. Shasta. This year the mountain is so majestic, it literally takes my breath away every time I see it.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the past few years, Mt. Shasta has been beautiful but not breathtaking, with not much snow to reflect the sunlight. It made me start thinking about our lives as Christians.<\/span><\/p>\n

When we have a very thin layer of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we can\u2019t reflect much of the \u201cSon Light\u201d for others to see. But just like the mountain, when we have a very thick layer of the Holy Spirit, we can be a powerful reflection of the \u201cSon Light.\u201d When we are drenched in the Word and spending time in His presence, we are clothed in His power and shining brightly for Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was inspired by the mountain in September of 1990 to write this poem while looking out of the window of a commuter plane:<\/span><\/p>\n

A Mountain Great and White<\/span><\/span>
\nI saw a mountain great and white.\u00a0<\/span>
\nAnd in it I could take delight,<\/span>
\nKnowing God is the One in charge.<\/span>
\nCreating things both small and large.<\/span>
\nHe is the One Who always gives<\/span>
\nThe wisdom and strength by which we live.<\/span>
\nHe never fails to meet our needs,<\/span>
\nAnd put in our hearts His decrees.<\/span>
\nGive me the eyes to look for Your love<\/span>
\nIn the things You\u2019ve created below and above.<\/span>
\nGive me the joy of appreciation<\/span>
\nFor every facet of Your creation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDear Lord Jesus, please let our lives reflect Your light and love everywhere we go, so others will come to You, and the Father will be glorified. Teach us how to stay immersed in Your Word and filled with the Holy Spirit. We pray in Your Name, Jesus. Amen.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
