Permanent Truth<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

When I did my grocery shopping in early January, the cashier asked me if I needed to buy some bags in which to put my purchases. I had forgotten that the new law was in place that there were no more free plastic bags. My reusable bags were safely in my trunk; many shopping trips later, I still struggle to remember them when I go into a store.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every January 1, I dread all the new laws and rules of life in the United States. Driving laws. Safety laws. Gun laws. Plastic bag laws. We get used to how things are, and then it changes. I have to remember to implement the new laws and live by them, no matter how insignificant they seem.<\/span><\/p>\n

How will life be for my grandchildren? What will be the laws by which they are compelled to live? What regulations\u2014things we can\u2019t even imagine needing today\u2014will be in place to keep them safe, to promote their prosperity, to encourage good stewardship over the earth\u2019s resources? What guidelines will build a fence around them, whether for their protection or taking away their freedoms? These kinds of questions will remain unanswered until the years roll by.<\/span><\/p>\n

One thing will not change: God\u2019s truth. Our Scripture today says that His truth endures to ALL generations. My grandchildren will have the same Word, same God, same love, same mercy, same salvation, same eternity as I have. They will perhaps experience different problems, different evils surrounding them, and different diseases to deal with, but the same Hand will bring healing to their hurting hearts, transformation to their minds, and the exact same answers to their questions. The problem of sin will be dealt with in the same way. My Savior will be their Savior. They will still have to die to themselves. God will still offer the only true wisdom. He will still be omniscient about their lives, will extend His offer of salvation just as He did to me, and will love them every bit as much as He loves me.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut the Word of the Lord endures forever\u201d<\/em> (1 Peter 1:25).<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a great comfort. The new technology of future generations will not alter truth. The world leaders in place during their lives will not alter truth. Whatever \u201cnew normal\u201d they live with that I cannot conceive today, will not alter truth. If I happen to write my memoir, or leave some legacy of the place God\u2019s Word has held in my life, they will understand what I\u2019ve written, because God will still be revealing Himself to them just as He has since Adam and Eve walked the earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the Lord, we never have to say, as we do every January 1, \u201cNOW what?\u201d Neither I, nor those who come after me, will ever have to deal with moods, whims, and capricious desires of a changing God, for He and His Word are unchanging. This world, no matter how it goes, will not change Him in even the smallest way.<\/span><\/p>\n
