\u201cAll Scripture is given by inspiration of God\u2026 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.\u201d<\/em> 2 Timothy 3:16a, 17<\/span><\/p>\n

Equipped For Work<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

When my son entered the fire academy at Shasta College, he had to buy a lot of safety equipment\u2014thick-soled boots, his yellow jacket and pants, suspenders, and assorted tools to carry that could one day save his life. He was equipped long before he was asked to fight any fires.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to today\u2019s Scripture, God\u2019s Word equips us to do His work. The Word gets us ready to walk in His calling.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word tells us:<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 What to do;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 How to do it;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 The reason for doing it;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 What our attitude should be while doing it;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 What it will cost us;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Who our helpers should be;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 How to lead our team;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 The outcome of the work;<\/span>
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Who our Supervisor is.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reading God\u2019s Word will prepare you in every possible way for your life\u2019s work. A thorough knowledge of Scripture is the best preparation\u2014not reading how-to manuals, not having a support group, and not watching YouTube videos that show you the best way. Those may offer some small assistance, but they only assist\u2014your primary source should be the Scriptures.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you wonder why God isn\u2019t using you, may I offer a few thoughts? Maybe there is unconfessed sin in your life. Perhaps you haven\u2019t done what He has already asked of you, and so He hasn\u2019t asked you to do the next thing. Maybe He\u2019s been talking to you about it, but you\u2019re tuned out. Or MAYBE\u2026 you aren\u2019t reading His Word and thus you aren\u2019t prepared.<\/span><\/p>\n

Notice: every one of these reasons is something you can do something about yourself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFather, You have done everything necessary to prepare us for Your work. Help us to love Your Word more than anything else in our lives, so that we may study it, learn from it, and be equipped. In Jesus\u2019 Name, Amen.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
