\u201cAll Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.\u201d<\/em>
\n2 Timothy 3:16-17<\/span><\/p>\n

The Inspired Word of God<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

I\u2019ve always felt sorry for the group of men tasked with the responsibility of deciding exactly what made it into the Bible, and what was deemed to not be God\u2019s inspired Word. I realize many books have been written on this topic, and I admittedly have read none of them. But I can certainly imagine the agony, the arguments, the confirmations, and the prayers for wisdom that surely took place as decisions were being made.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of God is profitable for, well, everything. We can live by it, teach it, correct wrongdoers with it, meditate on it, be comforted and encouraged by it, gain peace by it, fight battles with it, cling to it, hide it in our hearts, delight in it, be cleansed by it\u2026 shall I go on?<\/span><\/p>\n

God\u2019s Word is EVERYTHING\u2014adequate for every need, every person, every situation, for all time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since this is true, why do we bother looking elsewhere for comfort, for peace, for encouragement, for instruction in righteousness? There IS no other writing, counsel, or speech useful for all these things. There is nothing we need MORE than we need the Word of God\u2014ever, at any time, for any reason.<\/span><\/p>\n

God, exalted high above all things, sitting on His throne in all majesty and splendor, has spoken to us in His Word, revealing His Son who created everything and holds it all together in His hands. HE HAS SPOKEN. To us. Us.<\/span><\/p>\n

And we dilly-dally along trying to gain nourishment from our friends, or the so-called experts, or the media, as if they had something more to give than God already gave, some better counsel, some higher worth, some better way to come to God and get to know Him. Our human words, apart from God\u2019s wisdom, are puny, mere vapors, no stronger than mist. Man\u2019s ways are like a heat wave that rises from the pavement on a blistering summer day\u2014it seems to ripple the air a bit, just for a flash of time, but then disappears forever without the least effect on anything.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnything less than God will never be enough.\u201d ~ Julian<\/span><\/p>\n

Contrast that vapor with God\u2019s Word that stands forever, will never need to be changed to keep up with the times; it offers new life, gives rivers of living water, and is light for our path. God\u2019s Word introduces us to the very Son of the living God, holding out to us salvation, redemption, forgiveness, righteousness, and eternal life.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGod, forgive us for listening to those who attempt to be wise apart from Your truth. Your Word is truth. May we ever seek the wisdom and knowledge You have already given, that we may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
