It seems to me that Jesus deserves better than I am giving.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I read the story of Jesus healing the epileptic boy in Matthew 17 after the failure of the disciples to accomplish much of anything. That would be me. Why can\u2019t I do this? Why this failure? Well, here\u2019s the thing.\u00a0 No matter how spiritual I may be, it\u2019s not my fasting or praying or holy living that accomplishes anything.\u00a0 (Verse 21 is not in some translations.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is faith in God that moves mountains. (Verse 20) It is a faith that knows who He is and all that He alone can do. It is His will, not mine. It is His power. It is His glory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Listen to the words of the old hymn, &#8220;The Solid Rock&#8221;*:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cMy hope is built on nothing less<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Than Jesus&#8217; blood and righteousness;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">I dare not trust the sweetest frame,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">But wholly lean on Jesus&#8217; name.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">All other ground is sinking sand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This thought strangely encourages me because I know I am not a great prayer warrior. I rarely fast. I am spiritually weak and vulnerable. There is a sweet relief and a great hope in knowing it\u2019s not up to me. Whew! God Himself will do the doing of it. Will I believe Him for it?\u00a0 That is all that is required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u201cFather, what a God You are! Thank You for a grace that abounds. May we grasp who You are and in that faith and confidence see You move among us. All for Your glory.
