I had awakened in a panic, worrying and anxious about all kinds of things. Thoughts kept flooding my mind. I\u2019d close my eyes and the thoughts would come back: did I pay that bill? Or can we pay that bill? I forgot to do a certain task at work and worried if I would get to work early enough to make sure it was done. Are my dad\u2019s affairs in order? (I take care of my dad\u2019s financial stuff.) All these things!! Anxiety amplified in my embellished thoughts. I thought: really?\u00a0 What\u2019s going on here?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then the Lord gently reminded me, \u201cHe has this and is in complete control.\u201d Just rest. Unplug. After praying and remembering a couple of Scriptures, I rested in His peace and fell back to sleep.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This type of anxiety is provoked by the enemy of our souls who looks for vulnerable moments. The word says in Psalm 91:5, <em>\u201cYou should not be afraid of the terror by night, nor the arrow that flies by day\u201d<\/em> (when I\u2019m staying in His refuge); and, <em>\u201cBe sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Resist him!\u201d<\/em> (1 Peter 5:8-9a); and, <em>\u201cPerfect love casts out all fear\u201d<\/em> (1 John 4:18).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the morning I realize how dramatized the whole event had been (even though it was just for five minutes). In my quiet time God reminded me again He\u2019s the boss and I need to stay tucked in His peace by remembering Scripture and prayer. Sometimes these tormenting moments are things that need to be dealt with in the morning, but anxiety isn\u2019t from the Lord. In His perfect wisdom and His time, He will work it out for His glory and will accomplish what concerns us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We can be<em> \u201cCasting our cares on the Lord, for He care for us\u201d<\/em> (1 Peter 5:7).\u00a0 To cast off cares means to trust the Lord completely and unplug, relinquish control! <em>\u201cSet (or fix) your eyes on things above, not things of the earth\u201d<\/em> (Colossians 3:2). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our God is so wonderful. How much He loves us and desires our complete rest to be in Him. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cDear Lord, I know You are in complete control and we can be anxious for nothing in You. May we stay in Your refuge knowing You \u201chave this\u201d and we can trust in You in the midst of anxiety. We can let our requests be made known to You, and Your peace floods our hearts. Praise You, Lord!
