“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Psalm 34:18 NLT

Broken Heart – A Prayer

Lord, how many times can my heart break? So many losses and many are weary and hurting. When my heart is overwhelmed, saturate me with Your peace. “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Lord, the drama in which I have been cast suddenly changed the genre in the middle of my play. I don’t know my lines, my place or my role. Please help me learn my new lines for this new role. You use my entire lifetime to prepare me for my role in eternity, but I need Your prompting here and now, Lord. Sometimes when Your prompt seems delayed, I surge ahead, and play the wrong part or speak the wrong lines. I speak to fill the void because there is silence, but without Your prompt, my words are empty and foolish. When I am not sure where I belong, lead me, Lord.

See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:24).

Lord, the world seems to be spinning out of control, can you slow it down a little bit? I am running scattered because too many items are piled on my tiny plate. Enlarge my plate Lord, or lighten my load. My shoulders are sagging and my energy is lagging. Am I ever going to be caught up with my to-do list? When I am tempted to do more than You have placed on my plate, give me the strength to say no. “…Being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience” (Colossians 1:11).

Lord, keep Your perspective before my eyes, that this world is not my home. When the cares of this world and the burden of prayer weigh me down, remind me: “I do not even know what will happen tomorrow. My life is only a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (James 4:14 NIV).

Lord, my loved ones are in Your hands. Keep me from taking them out of Your hands or sheltering them from Your corrections. I KNOW in my head I can trust You with them; help me BELIEVE in my heart. “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You” (Psalm 56:3).

Lord, thank You for giving me an audience with You any time, any place, and praying for anything. Your open arms beckon as You call: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11: 28-30).
