“Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him…” Colossians 1:10a

I Will Walk His Way

Walk His Way Revisited
First posted in January, 2014

“Walk His Way” can be interpreted differently by each of us.

I could say, “I will walk His way”—meaning, I will walk as Jesus walked while He lived on earth. I will treat people as He treated them, speak as He spoke, do what He did. This is a worthy calling. Each of us is called to exemplify Christʼs life. “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked” (1 John 2:6).

I could say, “I will walk His way”—meaning, I will walk in His ways, learning all I can from Scripture and living my life according to His Word. I will pay attention to what our Father is doing on the earth, and I will join Him in this work. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).

I could say, “I will walk His way”—meaning, I will walk on the same path as He is, with Him leading and me following, minute by minute, listening for His voice telling me the next thing, giving me instruction for right decisions along the way. “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ʻThis is the way, walk in it…ʼ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21).

I could even say, “I will walk His Way”—meaning, I will walk toward Him, in His direction, seeking His presence and nearness, living in the light of His goodness and favor. “Come and let us walk in the light of the LORD” (Isaiah 2:5).
