Rejoice in the LORD always, again I say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4

Rejoicing

Rejoicing in the Lord does many things for our soul and mindset. I think the most important is that it gets our focus off of the circumstances and on to God. We can trust Him for the outcome of the situation and the fact that He knows exactly what He’s doing for good and He sees the whole story. This encourages our hearts! We can rejoice in this truth.

Seeking things above involves a lot of rejoicing in the promises of God—promises of deliverance over sin, promises of restored and refreshed life, promises for strength to walk through trials and just to make it through the day. Jesus tells us in John 16:33, “In the world we will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world!”

We’re not rejoicing because of the trial, but we’re rejoicing in the LORD in the midst of our trial. He lifts us up, over, and through our hard and confusing, or tense circumstances. I find myself giggling inside when I think of His love and goodness.

King David writes in Psalm 145:1-3, “I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.” Doesn’t reading those verses refresh your heart?

Rejoicing in the Lord causes me to realize that it’s not about me. It’s about our King Jesus and His Kingdom, and how He is working all things together for His glory and our good. I can completely trust His timing and victory in each situation and not carry the burden. The Holy Spirit reminds me of the words of Jesus: “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:29).

Remembering to do this through the day is sometimes a challenge. But practicing praising God in all things and rejoicing in the Lord always changes our outlook. He is alive in us! Because of His great love and mercy, we can discipline ourselves in this. It is well worth it, because He is worthy!

This is His command, that we “Rejoice always; pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). This is pure joy, realizing He loves us so much that He wants us to enjoy Him and His love.

Be blessed in Him today sisters.

“Dear Lord, we bless You from deep within, knowing You hold the universe in Your hands and You know the number of hairs on our head. You are great and mighty and worthy of all our praise and rejoicing. Today we choose to rejoice in You. Be glorified in us today.”
