“Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?” Luke 19:23

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.” Revelation 22:12

Endowment of Grace

I am sometimes astonished by the things God has done for me. I secretly think I am His favorite! (But then again, so are you.) His goodness and loving kindness is a tsunami of merciful grace. One of the myriad things that has astonished me is His grace gifts to me. I had no idea I could do the things I now find myself doing.

He made me to be who I am. He knows my flaws and my frailties. He knows all my foolishness. He sees my sin. Yet in the midst of that mess, He came and gave me talents, abilities, strengths, and insights to which I was oblivious beforehand. He awakened me and disclosed who I was in His sight. I delight in the things He has called me to do because these are the very things dear to my heart. He knew that. He knew just how to use me for His glory, allowing me to be all that I am in ways I never imagined.

So in light of all these things, how will I steward His generosity to me? If I do not exercise my gifts, I insult His grace. We all have gifts given freely from God’s own hand. He has designed and created each of us for specific purposes. Within the Body of Christ we need each other. Each of us must exercise our gifts with joy, boldness, and unswerving devotion to our God and to each other.

Your gifts will not look like mine. We are a weird, I mean peculiar, people. We are unique individuals. We span the spectrum of humanity; no one of us is like the other. And yet God has fit us together in a crazy mix that proclaims the truth of the gospel, is all about good works, and loves well. Amazing God!

Let us not waste His goodness to us. Let us answer His call to serve as He has equipped and empowered us. Let us grant Him interest on His investment! He has entrusted this work on earth to us until He comes. He sees our work and labor of love. He is our coming reward. Let us serve Him gloriously!

“Father, You are generous to Your daughters. We are thankful for Your lavish grace. We serve you with willing and grateful hearts. We delight in the artistry You are creating in and through each one of us. May You ever be glorified by the works of our hands and hearts. Amen.”
