“We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you…” Colossians 1:3

Supplication

I am reasonably certain that I stand in the faith today because of the prayers of family members who loved me. Does that ring true with you? And as I have grown in faith, I have grown in prayer. Now I find that I am the one praying for family members and friends. I can testify that I have seen those prayers wonderfully answered. There remain a few who are yet to respond, but having seen His faithfulness and the power of prayer, I willingly continue to “pray them in.”

Prayer was essential to Jesus. Prayer was indispensable in the ministry of the Apostle Paul. He was praying always for those he loved. He was praying continuously for the churches of Jesus Christ. Prayer was as much a part of Paul’s life as eating, drinking, breathing, and sleeping. Paul prayed consistently and avidly for those he loved. Paul prayed fervently for those God loved.

Pray daily. Pray often. Pray deeply. Pray quietly. Pray out loud with boldness. Pray in the silent and still moment. Pray through song. Pray in those waking moments as you arise. Pray as you lay down at day’s end. Pray as easily and habitually as you breathe.

Pray.

“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you…” (Colossians 1:9).

The quiet, persistent prayers of mothers, sisters, and grandmothers are being heard in heaven’s halls. They ring with the truth of the gospel and usher in the will of God on earth.

“Father, it is a high privilege to come to You and know that You hear us and that You are listening to our cries, our supplications, and our intercession. May our prayers continuously rise to You as a pleasant and sweet-smelling incense. You are our God and Father, the God that we love, and the God that has so brilliantly loved us. In the name of our Champion and Defender, Jesus our Lord. Amen.”
