“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are My disciples.” John 13:35

A Poem For You

When I became aware of someone going through a very dark time of despair, experiencing deep depression and unable to see the Light of Jesus, I was given a short prayer by the Lord to share:

When we are too weary to pray

Others we know that will stay

On their knees in your stead,

Alongside their bed,

Until darkness is broken by day.

Can we be aware of those who cannot ask for help? Although these are the ones who need it the most, they are afraid to show their need to anyone. I do not know or understand why, but I do realize now that there are many of us who love Jesus but can still experience deep depression.

Let’s ask God to give us a discerning spirit so that we can recognize through Jesus’ eyes those who are hiding behind the “happy mask.”

We may not even know them, but we can make eye contact and smile with love. If we are close enough, we can tell them Jesus loves them and cares very deeply about their concerns.

When we feel the tug of the Holy Spirit showing us someone hurting, but may not look like they are hurting, don’t look the other way. Obey the tug and reach out to that person if you are able. A phone call, a card, or saying, “You are on my heart. May I pray for you?”

“Lord, we want to be a discerning people who reach out as You did to the hurting. Give them the courage they need to admit they need prayer and ask someone. We want to see through Your eyes of love and act out what You would do. You have given us wisdom and more if we ask for it; please help us to become witnesses of Your love, by the way we love others.”
